Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) has unveiled Remit!, a new real-time international money transfer service in collaboration with Visa. Powered by Visa Direct, the service allows ADIB customers to send funds instantly to over 11 billion cards, digital wallets, and bank accounts around the world.
ADIB is the first bank globally to offer such extensive coverage through a single platform, according to both companies.
Remit! is designed to meet the needs of individuals seeking a secure, fast, and efficient way to send money abroad—whether for family support, emergencies, or personal expenses. This initiative is part of Visa’s broader mission to scale real-time money movement in the Middle East, where demand for digital remittance solutions continues to rise.
As the region rapidly modernizes its payment infrastructure, partnerships like this one are advancing financial inclusion and accessibility.
“This partnership marks a major milestone for our customers and reaffirms our commitment to digital innovation and customer-centric financial services. We are excited to be the first bank globally to launch such a service, offering our customers a seamless and secure way to send money across the globe,”
— Amit Malhotra, Global Head of Consumer Banking at ADIB
Salima Gutieva, Visa’s Vice President and Country Manager for the UAE, added:
“The Middle East is home to one of the world’s most active remittance corridors. In the UAE alone, consumers send money abroad an average of 1.4 times per month. This reflects the strong demand for fast, secure, and reliable transfer services.”
The launch aligns with growing demand for transparent and rapid cross-border payments in the Gulf region. Visa’s 2025 remittance study reveals that 95% of UAE consumers send money abroad at least once a year, with 63% preferring digital methods available through physical access points. Security, speed, and privacy were among the top reasons for choosing digital options.
However, consumers still face hurdles. High transaction fees and the inconvenience of visiting physical locations for transfers remain concerns. Over one-third of UAE respondents cited these issues in Visa’s study.
Visa Direct seeks to eliminate such barriers. The platform enables secure, real-time money transfers to cards, wallets, and bank accounts globally. One of its standout features, Visa+, allows users to send money using just a mobile number or email address—no bank details required.
Already active in key GCC markets including the UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain, Visa+ supports a wide range of use cases such as peer-to-peer payments, business disbursements, and remittances—further driving financial connectivity across the region.
