PayPal has acquired multi-channel orchestration platform Cymbio as it looks to strengthen and scale its agentic commerce capabilities. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The move builds on PayPal’s growing role in the rapidly emerging agentic commerce ecosystem, where artificial intelligence-powered assistants are increasingly influencing how consumers discover and purchase products. Over the past year, PayPal has rolled out agentic commerce services and checkout options for merchants across AI platforms including Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity, with integrations for OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini app and AI Mode expected to follow.
Founded in Tel Aviv, Cymbio enables brands to sell across a range of agentic and digital commerce surfaces, including Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity, and other e-commerce channels. PayPal previously partnered with Cymbio and held an investment in the company prior to the acquisition.
Under PayPal’s ownership, Cymbio’s technology and team will power Store Sync, one of PayPal’s agentic commerce services. Store Sync allows merchants to make their product catalogues discoverable within AI-driven channels, while seamlessly routing orders into existing fulfilment and order management systems.
PayPal emphasised that merchants using Store Sync remain the merchant of record, retaining ownership of customer relationships and full control over their brand. Retailers currently live with Store Sync on Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity include Abercrombie & Fitch, Fabletics, Ashley Furniture, Newegg, and Adorama.
Michelle Gill, EVP and GM, small business and financial services at PayPal, said:
“Acquiring Cymbio’s technology and team will enhance our agentic commerce capabilities and accelerate the expansion to more of our merchants.
“By making their product catalogues discoverable on AI surfaces, merchants can increase sales while expanding product choice to the millions of consumers shopping on AI platforms today.”
